The Practical Pistol Competition (PPC) matches set up begins at 7:30 am and the match begins at 8:00 am.
The match is a 48 round event, all timed/rapid fire, and you must use both strong and weak hand during firing, as well as reload in the middle of a string (strings are 6 shots; 3 magazines or speed loaders required). You can use either a semi-auto pistol or a revolver, in centerfire. Generally, only factory original-duty type guns are allowed; no barrels over 6 inches, and the only mods are custom grips and/or spring kits. Another requirement is a hip holster, as all stages begin with the gun holstered. Shoulder holsters are NOT allowed.
Targets are Police Silhouette. A typical match description is as follows:
Boeing PPC Match Instructions / Calls for 48 Shot Match
Pre-match announcement The cost of the match is $5.00 per shooter per relay. We will shoot as many relays as possible with the time we have allowed. Each relay in the match today is a 48 round event. All shooting will be Timed & Rapid Fire. In each stage of fire, you will be required to reload (either with a speed-loader for revolvers, or extra magazines with pistols). We will be firing from 3 yards, 7 yards, 15 yards, and 25 yards. Strong hand fire, both supported and unsupported, as well as weak hand fire, both supported and unsupported, will be required. THE COURSE OF FIRE AND DISTANCE WILL BE ANNOUNCED FOR EACH RELAY. IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE INSTRUCTIONS, ASK THE MATCH DIRECTOR FOR CLARIFICATION.
Equipment required to shoot in this PPC Match is: at least 48 rounds of ammo, a stock pistol, with at least 3 magazines or speed loaders, and a side hip holster. Additional equipment that would be helpful would be: A pencil or pen for scoring, and a range bag or some container to collect up your brass.
ALSO: AT NO TIME SHOULD YOU HAVE MORE THAN 6 ROUNDS IN EACH OF YOUR MAGAZINES OR SPEED LOADERS. EACH STAGE OF THE MATCH IS FIRED IN MULTIPLES OF 6 ROUNDS.
WHEN WE SAY CEASE FIRE, WE MEAN CEASE FIRE. GOING PAST CEASE FIRE BLATANTLY IS REASON TO BE DISMISSED FROM THE MATCH.
AT EACH CEASE FIRE PERIOD, WE WILL ASK THAT WEAPONS BE CLEARED, MAGAZINES REMOVED, AND HOLSTERED. DO NOT REMOVE YOUR WEAPON FROM THE HOLSTER AGAIN UNTIL YOU ARE TOLD TO DO SO.
WHEN YOU GO DOWN RANGE TO SCORE TARGETS, SCORE THEM QUICKLY. DO NOT SPEND TIME ADMIRING YOUR TARGET AND BS'ing WITH OTHER SHOOTERS. YOU SHOULD SCORE, THEN RETURN TO POLICE BRASS, AND RELOAD YOUR MAGS OR SPEED LOADERS. THE QUICKER WE SCORE AND MOVE TO THE NEXT STAGE, THE MORE RELAYS WE WILL BE ABLE TO HAVE
LAST INSTRUCTIONS · Police and/or sweep up your brass, return the shooting booths to their original positions. · Remove all silhouette targets and replace the chain at the front of the booth. · Gather your gear and congregate behind the range, under the pavilion.
